Why replace a single check valve on a Fire System?

Why does a single check on a fire system need to be replaced?

Research has shown that there is a huge failure rate on fire system single check valves.

A single check valve is not testable. Code requires that a Double Check Valve (DC) be installed as a minimum. Some communities require a detector or bypass on the assembly (DCDA).

Some circumstances require a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer. Some communities require a detector or bypass on the assembly (RPDA).

Check with your community's Inspection, Water, and/or Fire Departments for specific requirements.
