Trap primer

Does a trap primer require a backflow preventer?

Traps primers have a built-in air gap, so additional protection is not required. They are a "high-maintenance" item.

Most of the time, the primer is located in a wall with an access door in the drywall. If sediment gets stuck in the seat, if the trap primer line gets plugged, or if the floor drain gets plugged, you'll have a flooding problem!

Vegetable oil may be a better alternative???
