An air gap is always the best backflow preventer. After that, an RPZ is 2nd best.
DuC = Dual Check Valve
DC = Double Check
RPZ = Preduced Pressure Zone
AG = Air Gap

* water softeners - AG ON DISCHARGE INTO FLOOR DRAIN
